Part of the beauty of floristry for us is the joy that comes from the changing of the seasons. A magnificent life cycle that we have the pleasure of experiencing through our daily trips to the Flower Market. Join us there in mid-Summer and select from the most glorious of British flowers - peonies, garden roses, sweet peas, scabious, cosmos, delphiniums, foxgloves and flowering herbs to name but a few.  The perfect starting point to creating our seasonal arrangements.

Saturday June 11th 2016: 8:00am - 3:00pm

The day will start with a visit to the Covent Garden Flower Market where we will introduce you to our favourite traders and explain how the buying process works. Together we will select our feature flowers to use later in the day. A short trip back to the JamJar Studio where we will start the day with strong coffee and pastries, before we get hands-on with conditioning our flowers. We will teach you the technique of spiralling your stems to create a hand tied bouquet for a JamJar which you will take home at the end of the day.

Lunch is served at 12:30pm, re-energising you for the afternoon. We will get back to work with an intricate lesson in wiring for hair flowers and buttonholes, before putting those skills into practice. Finally, using the skills you've learnt throughout the day, you will be ready to tackle a large foliage based arrangement in a vintage bucket.

Our head florists will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions and to offer advice, from buying and prepping your flowers to how to make the most of them once you've taken them home. The course is packed full of tips, advice and techniques and is designed to give you the confidence to go out and purchase your own flowers, and to make arrangements for your home.

At the end of your day you can take your JamJar of flowers and buttonholes home to enjoy and re-create.

Skills you’ll learn: market orientation, flower selection and purchasing; flower conditioning; hand tied arrangements; wiring; large arrangement.
