Flower School at Chateau Dumas, France

We are thrilled to announce that following last years success, we have been invited back to the exquisite setting of Chateau Dumas in the South of France to host a week-long Flower School in July 2017.

We begin the week with the foundations of floral design - how to select and condition your blooms and spiral stems into a hand-tied arrangement. This year alongside Melissa, Talena Rolfe will be teaching her style of thoughtful and romantic flowers. Talena's beautiful bouquets have delighted many JamJar brides this year. As the week progresses and you work on increasingly extravagant table decorations and foliage based arrangements you’ll learn about the form and structure needed to create beautiful natural floral arrangements using bottles, buckets and other vintage containers.

Using a wide array of cut fresh flowers delivered direct from Holland, along with natural materials foraged from the Chateau gardens, you will learn to create garlands and bowers with spellbinding touches. You will also have the opportunity to learn the intricate art of making corsages and boutonnières as well as beautiful flower crowns and hair decorations.

This comprehensive course touches on table styling and this year we will be teaching the art of flower pressing to create unique and striking place names, menus and invitations. This will be lead by talented model maker Leila Watts who will also give a masterclass in making wonderful creatures using wire and wild flowers.

A highpoint of the week is the Enchanted Forest candle-lit dinner held in the woods under a canopy of hanging flowers. The Chateau Dumas team pull out all the stops to create a magical atmosphere for this theatrical evening, and your new floristry skills will be put to the test with everyone working together to set the stage for an enchanted evening.

Last,  but by no means least, on Friday we visit the monthly antique market in Toulouse where you will have the chance to hunt for vintage vases and vessels - or  anything else that catches your eye.
